A new way to grow,

where business software and professional services meet.

Our story starts back in 2013, when we were running a digital agency and noticed just how much software we were using. Specifically, we were using cloud-based software for many of the things that used to be done by professional services firms.

And we weren’t alone..

Looking at Blissfully’s annual SaaS report, the average small to medium-sized business uses 70 SaaS tools: HubSpot for their CRM, Xero for their accounting, Gusto for HR – you name it.

New technology is changing business culture, forcing professional services firms to rethink their offering and evolve.

New technology is changing business culture, forcing professional services firms to rethink their offering and evolve.

But this also creates new problems for the organizations, which we experienced firsthand.

For one, we didn’t know how to configure all this software for the best possible results. And as with most things in life, what you put in is what you get out. Without setting up and using software correctly, we’d never see its true value.

The other issue is that all this business software gave us more data than we knew what to do with. We didn’t know what all the information really meant or, more importantly, how to use that data to improve our business.

So when customers of our previous business started using software to accomplish things we used to charge them for, we needed to pivot, quickly. We started to support them in using their software and our job became more about coaching our customers based on the analytics, recommending actions, and showing them how to grow.

That’s when we realized something profound:

We still need professional services, just in more of a coaching way — and so does every other business.

That’s why we created On The Bench: to connect any business that uses software with professional services firms that work with it, while helping business software companies pioneer a new way of doing business.

We exist, because everyone needs a hero.

We’re a hero for businesses that are using software to take care of the drudgery and gain insights into their business, but still need professional services to coach and help them along the way.

We’re a hero for the agencies & professional services firms, helping them evolve to how businesses will increasingly want to buy services.

We’re a hero for software companies, who need professional services firms to support their customers and so that they can grow.

The more technology provides, the more that human dimensions matter, the more the people connection will matter.
